The Organisation:

For nearly 100 years, Cholmondeley Children’s Centre has been a cornerstone of support for Canterbury families, providing respite care and support for children aged 3 to 12 during times of crisis. Located in Governors Bay, the centre offers a safe, nurturing environment that helps children to foster wellbeing and build resilience while their families work through challenges.

The Challenge:

When Cholmondeley partnered with The I.T. Team in November 2021, their goal was clear: modernise systems, reduce unnecessary costs, and ensure reliable support.

“We were looking for a partner who could work within our unique environment while helping us move forward,” says Katie McCullough, Operations Manager at Cholmondeley.

The Solution:

The I.T. Team took a proactive approach, focusing on flexibility, cost-efficiency, and strategic improvements. A key priority was reducing unnecessary infrastructure while keeping operations cost-effective. However, older VDSL infrastructure created limitations in achieving full-scale upgrades.

“We’ve successfully eliminated several servers, which has helped streamline operations and reduce overhead.” says Connon Daly, General Manager at The I.T. Team.

Another significant milestone was the transition to SharePoint, modernising document management and workflows. “The I.T. Team supported us every step of the way,” Katie says. “Now parts of our team actively use the platform, and it’s been a big win for us.” The rollout was structured, well-supported, and aligned with the centre’s specific needs.

Day-to-day IT support has been another standout aspect of the partnership. Cholmondeley values the combination of remote support and on-site presence, which ensures their staff can stay focused without unnecessary interruptions.

“The mix of remote and on-site support has been fantastic,” Katie says. “It means issues are resolved quickly, and when The I.T. Team visits us in person, they don’t just troubleshoot—they take the time to guide our team and answer questions.”

Connon highlights the importance of this approach: “We aim to not only resolve problems efficiently but also empower teams with personalised support and training during on-site visits. It’s all about creating a seamless, proactive partnership.”

“We really enjoy working with The I.T. Team,” Katie adds. “They’re friendly, engaged, and always looking for ways to help us improve.”

“We’re proud to work alongside Cholmondeley, providing their team with reliable, forward-thinking IT solutions,” Connon concludes. “For us, it’s about more than solving problems—it’s about delivering meaningful improvements that help them do what they do best.”

We’re continuously working to streamline their costs and infrastructure while also testing new solutions to improve their situation based on challenges with their location.
